Why Did We Create A Home for Steamboat

Wyomings logo

Our logo, Steamboat, means alot to the great state of Wyoming and to those who love the West. We wear it proudly on most things we own from coffee cups to sweatshirts to our license plates. The idea of writing the story behind our bucking horse, Steamboat, quickly surfaced when talking about my books with friends one night and then I brought it to illustrator Zak Pullen. It was such an exciting idea, but we knew it was a big one, and decided to let it simmer within each of our creative realms for many years. We knew we wanted the book to be one that educated everyone about the historic facts on this “horse that couldn’t be ridden” and add our imaginative spin that made it a children’s book. So the story is historical fiction, which means it is based on many facts, but we did add several pages of interesting things to know. Of course we got into the facts about the horse, Steamboat, and Charlie Irwin (who owned the horse during its glory rodeo days until Steamboat passed away), and Alan Tupper True (who created the cowboy on a bucking horse emblem, we now use on everything).

We hope this book opens your mind of where our great state started with the love for the rodeo horse Steamboat.
